Housing Workshop for family carers about shared ownership with a HOLD Mortgages

Friday 15 March 2019
10:30 to 12:30

Shared ownership with a HOLD mortgage. David Abbey, from My Safe Home, is coming to the Searchlight centre on March 15th to talk about this option and how it would work in practice. He has also found some shared ownership properties currently available in Kingston if families are looking at options for the very near future. He would provide practical examples of how this would work.

The shared ownership with a HOLD mortgage is suitable for people:
  • who are not in paid employment and would not wish/ be able to be in the future (if people are in paid employment they are not eligible for a HOLD mortgage and would need to try to secure a traditionalmortgage) i.e. people need to be reliant on benefits as their sole source of income.
  • who want to live on their own (it has recently been introduced that two people can share a HOLD property but there are risks if the friendship breaks down). Friends could live in  properties close to each other with their own mortgages.
